Platypus Brewery is a Houston microbrewery with an Australian flare. Let’s also take some time to acknowledge how fun it is to say “Platypus”. It is in the Washington Corridor which is a popular bar district in Houston. The couple that owns two-thirds of Platypus Brewery moved from Houston to Australia. The wife got the husband an at-home brewing kit and his passion soared from there. They were once considering opening a brewery in Brisbane, Queensland but luckily, they came back to Houston instead. They partnered with a friend from Australia and then Platypus Brewery was created.
When visiting you will have the chance to taste 12 different fantastic craft beers. We recommend making sure to try the Bobby Dazzler which is a blonde ale. If you enjoy darker beers be sure to try the coffee porter, Stars at Night. Platypus Brewery offers beer paddles, so you can try 4 to 6 beers at a time.
If you have had your feel on beer, they have wine to mix it up. They do have some delicious food to pair with their craft beers. They use local ingredients to pair Texas and Australian flavors together. You can get a variety of things ranging from surf and turf to chicken lettuce wraps. Platypus Brewing has a unique food menu with many items that are must when you visit. We suggest sharing with a friend so get to sample the most food possible.
